Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that defender Andreas Christensen is ready to return for his team after the Danish international missed out on the FA Cup semifinal clash with Manchester City at the weekend.
His place in the Chelsea XI was taken by the experienced Thiago Silva for the Manchester City match as the Blues became the first team to seal a place in this year’s FA Cup final billed for the Wembley Stadium in May.
Thiago Silva and Chelsea got the better of Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening by a lone goal to book their place in the final. Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech was the hero for the Blues after he scored the only goal of the game off the assist from the much maligned Timo Werner. His goal arrived ten minutes in the second half.
Over 24 hours after the win over City, it was confirmed that Chelsea will play Leicester City. Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester City players saw off Southampton by a lone goal in the second semi-final. Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho continued his good form for the Foxes in front of goal, netting the winner ten minutes into the second half.
For Christensen and Chelsea, the home game against Brighton is in the must-win territory as victory will take them above London rivals West Ham United and into the top four on the league table.
