European champions Chelsea will take on London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the last four of the Carabao Cup after they saw off another London team in Brentford in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals.
Premier League title contenders Chelsea took the lead in their West London Derby clash at the home of the Bees when home skipper Pontus Jansson put through his own net before Italian national team player Jorginho sealed the win with an 85th penalty.
Chelsea will now face Spurs for a place in the Carabao Cup final. On their part, Tottenham Hotspur held off the challenge from West Ham United who had been responsible for the exit of teams such as Manchester United and Manchester City.
Argentine player Manuel Lanzini scored the only goal of the match as the Hammers knockout out Manchester United at the third round stage of the competition via a 1-0 away win over the Red Devils. West Ham United then ended the reign of Manchester City as Carabao Cup holders when they player out a goalless draw at home before they won on penalties with England international Phil Foden missing the crucial penalty for the Citizens to send the Hammers into the final eight of the Carabao Cup.
The away game at Spurs proved to be a step too far for the Hammers after they were beaten 2-1. Spurs will now take on Chelsea in the last four to determine who will secure a final berth.
