It has been a difficult few weeks for the Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez due to the huge number of games he has had to be in charge since taking over the club a few months ago. Chelsea have been consistently playing two games a week for a long time, and the manager has been voicing his concern about the lack of rest. He has also said that he has not been able to spend time with his players on the training ground because they have been focusing only on recovery. Immediately after recovery, matches come about and it has been made difficult with the arrival of the international matches as well.
England will be playing against Brazil in a friendly match at Wembley stadium. This week could have been the first time since Benitez took over that he had some time with the players, but as it is, he will be losing as much as five players for this match alone. The training ground will have only a few first-team players like John Terry and Fernando Torres. Chelsea will be taking on Newcastle United during this weekend. It is a match that the team needs to win after coming on the back of the disappointing 2-2 draw with Reading during the midweek action.
“When you have too many players playing far away it is a problem, at least we have the Brazilian and English here, but we have to manage. We have a lot of respect for all the [international] managers and we know how important it is for them. It is a normal conversation, if it is necessary, you cannot talk to everyone, but it is a conversation we will have. I am confident we have enough quality and enough options to win more games in a row and be top four,” said Benitez.
