English Premier League giant Chelsea FC have announced the signing of Michy Batshuayi from French club Marseille.
The club offered the youngster a five-year deal. The striker is said to hold close resemblance with former striker Didier Drogba, especially with his ability to beat defenders with his physique. The 22-year old player is powerful, fast and has an eye for goals.
Batshuayi was signed following his successful spell in France and Belgium. He was a part of the star-studded Belgian team that made it to the quarter finals. He was on point in the game against Hungary in the Round of 16 where he netted with his first touch when Chelsea’s Eden Hazard sent a cross.
Batshuayi said he was very delighted to join Chelsea being one of the biggest clubs in Europe. He mentioned that Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois mentioned a lot of good things about the club and that he was ready to move into a new phase in his career with Anthonio Conte in charge.
The player who was born in Brussels played his youth team football there before joining Standard Liege in 2011 to begin his professional career. He made his debut at the age of 18 and scored his first goal in a high profile match at Copenhagen in the 2011/2012 Europa League. The goal sent his club to the knockout rounds of the tournament. He got more chances in the next season and scored more goals.
Marseille was impressed with his performance and signed him in 2014. He made his debut as a replacement for Dimitri Payet on the first day of the season. His improvements have become obvious with each game. With the performance he has out on at the Euro 2016, Chelsea decided to snap him up at once. With Italy out of the tournament, Anthonio Conte would resume fully at the club and more transfers are expected before the transfer window closes.
